It’s always busy at the Forest Campus: of course the students continue to work hard on their studies, but also there is an increased sense of looking forward.  During the first week back after half term, we welcomed speakers from Worcester Uni who are hosting the UCAS exhibition for the South West Midlands later in March. In their talk they briefed Year 12 on the best way to approach the exhibition - the research into University courses and options that can be done in advance to ensure everyone gets the information they need on the day.

Those students who are considering a career in medicine or healthcare services have also had the opportunity to participate in a series of events during the excellent Medi/Vet week run by Steve Jones. Feedback from the Year 12s who went along to talks and tours at GRH has been overwhelmingly positive. 

Letters have gone out to students in Year 12 and applicants for September 2020 about the New York and Washington cross-curricular trip for Easter 2021.  The trip will take in all the key sights in New York, while Washington promises a visit to the seat of the US government along with a trip to the Smithsonian.  Students who’d like to apply for a place on this trip can collect a letter from the Sixth form office. 

The Sixth Form have also just hosted Year 11 for their taster sessions. Their first experience of A-levels included trying out a couple of their subject choices in lessons as well as getting a chance to experience a ‘free period’.  Having the opportunity to experience the Sixth form from a ‘student’s perspective’ is a really invaluable way of getting to know what A-level study will be like. Lessons on offer included dissection, ‘Turing tables’ and heated political debate.  

We’re really pleased that students commented on the amazing atmosphere at the Sixth Form; it’s a calm, focused and friendly place and we’re really proud of how well everyone works together.  We’re looking forward to welcoming new students to join us next year.
