Biology - Medical (Level 3 AAQ)
Welcome to Medical Biology
Welcome to Medical Science, what a fantastic choice you have made and I am very excited to meet you in September. This new qualification is jam packed full of traditional biology topics such as body systems, but also covers physical disorders and diseases, treatment methods and lots of application to real world healthcare. It’s the perfect qualification if you are thinking of a career in this industry.
There are 2 externally assessed units that are sat in exams in May of Year 12 and May of Year 13. Alongside this we complete 2 coursework based units on microbiology and disease and then an optional unit that is more applied in a certain area of healthcare depending on the class’ interests.
We use practical and modelling to help develop your understanding and skills, and provide lots of support with ensuring your coursework is to the highest standard possible and also that you feel confident going into the exams.
As the bridging work suggests, I recommend that you review your GCSE Chemistry knowledge of chemical bonding in preparation for our first unit on Biological Molecules and enjoy immersing yourself in some health-related content to help you tell me why you want to study Medical Science.
Have a great summer!
