Bereavement Support

Offering a range of pastoral care, the Dene Magna leadership, house teams, tutors and student support mentors are here to support the whole of our school community through the life situations and events we might all experience, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you feel you would like to talk to someone. 

We also recognise that there are amazing organisations out there that can offer professional help and advice at difficult times, and the links to some specialist bereavement services can be found below:

Cruse Bereavement Care — Grief is a natural process, but we know it can be devastating. Our specialist bereavement experts have experience in all types of loss and can offer support however and whenever the death occurred. We offer support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies. We work to enhance society’s care of bereaved people.

Hope Again is the youth website of Cruse Bereavement Care. It is a safe place where you can learn from other young people, how to cope with grief, and feel less alone.

Here you will find information about our services, a listening ear from other young people and advice for any young person dealing with the loss of a loved one.
Hope Again provides somewhere to turn to when someone dies.

Supporting grieving children and families, Winston’s Wish was the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity. We have been supporting bereaved children and young people since 1992, and we continue to lead the way in providing specialist child bereavement support services across the UK. Winston’s Wish provides emotional and practical bereavement support to children, young people and those who care for them. Our expert teams offer one-off and ongoing bereavement support, and we also provide online resources, specialist publications and training for professionals.

NHS advise and support for coping with bereavement and grief, including help with bereavement in children and young people. The website signposts a range of support, advice and links to further resources.

Young Minds Matter Gloucestershire Is a programme providing mental health support to children and young people in schools across Gloucestershire, and Dene Magna School is one of the trailblazing early-adopter schools. 

Our student support mentors regularly make referrals to YMM for services to support our students with mental health and wellbeing concerns but the team at YMM have recently launched a service aimed directly at children and young people.
