School Support

We have an extensive offer to support student wellbeing. Our offer starts as a service delivered in school with trusted adults and develops into specialised support that we signpost young people and their families to access. Regardless of which tier of support is accessed by the student, the focus is always the same, to offer a person centred programme of support, meeting students where they are at and offering them the coping strategies to access not only school but everyday tasks as they recover from their situation.

Tier 1

This starts with teaching all students through our RSHE programme during RFL, we teach students about mental health, coping strategies and the 5 ways to wellbeing. We also teach them what to do and where to go if they need some extra support with this or if they notice their friends struggling.

Tier 2

Depending upon the situation students can be referred to RAIS (Raising Achievement in School). RAIS is a small onsite provision located in the main building of the school. It can accommodate up to 8 students at a time. It is part of a short-term, bespoke timetable that some students follow. The ultimate aim of this intervention is to remove barriers to learning and reintegrate the individual student back into mainstream lessons.

Tiers 3 and 4.

These are more specialised provisions with specific agencies such as Young Minds Matter, Teens in Crisis, School Nurse, School Counsellor. These sessions are designed to support students either where previous tiers have not been sufficient to support the needs of the student or where the level of need is deemed as requiring a more specialised service.

Tier 5

Students who access support at this level generally are unable to complete everyday tasks. They often have more severe mental health needs such as eating disorders, or severe anxiety and require the support of psychologists or psychiatrists to support their recovery.

Please speak to your HOH/SSM to access this support.
