Travelling to Dene Magna Sixth Form Campus

Dene Magna Sixth Form is based at the Steam Mills Campus in Cinderford, a building shared with Gloucester College. This is where you will see your tutors and where the majority of subjects hold their lessons. Some lessons are held at the main Dene Magna School site in Mitcheldean, and a free minibus is provided to transport students between the two sites only for scheduled classes. The timetable for this can be found on the Student Information board outside the Sixth Form Office.

It is your responsibility to organise travel to campus in the morning, and home again - this document contains information to help you plan your journey. Different transport options are available depending on where you live, though you may prefer to walk or cycle if you are able. Many students organise lift-shares once they have passed their driving test.

Students in post-16 education are not entitled to free transport, so it’s important to consider how you are going to travel to campus and arrive on time each day. Now that you have more independence and a variable study timetable, you might need to use one of the public transport options listed below.

You may be able to apply for a bursary to assist with travel costs if you are from a low-income family.

Grindles School Coaches

Sixth Form students may be able to purchase bus passes from Gloucestershire County Council to fill any remaining seats on the daily school coaches, which will bring them to the main Dene Magna School site in Mitcheldean.

From Dene Magna School, a designated Grindles school coach will transport students to the Steam Mills Road bus stop (on the A4151, opposite Murco petrol station - 8 mins walk to campus). This journey is charged separately and can be booked through Grindles: www.grindlescoaches.co.uk/contact-us

At the end of the day, students can catch the Grindles coach from the Steam Mills Road bus stop back to the main Dene Magna site in Mitcheldean. They can then change to the relevant school coach for their onward journey if necessary. This journey is also charged separately.
